Old Orchard Beach Car Show

One of New England’s largest car shows! This weekend-long event highlights cars in many different categories and classes with a Friday Showcase and an Awards Presentation on Saturday.

A schedule of events will be released closer to the event, click here for the most up to date information.

$5 for Spectators for Saturday's Car Show (Children 12 and under are free) to pay at the door. No refunds.

2024 Household Hazardous Waste Collection - Biddeford

Residents of Saco, Biddeford, Scarborough, and Old Orchard Beach will have an opportunity to dispose of household hazardous waste on this collection day.

Old chemistry sets
Rust inhibitors
Wood preservative
Wood strippers
Wood stain
Paint thinner
Solvents
Oil based paint
Sealants
Pesticides
Insecticides

Rodent killers
No-pest strips
Antifreeze

The following materials will not be accepted:
Pathological waste
Radioactive waste
Tires
Explosives
Smoke detectors
Propane cylinders
Computers/Electronics
Commercial waste
Unknown materials

To Ensure Safety, Please:
Tighten caps and lids.
Leave materials in original labeled containers.
Sort chemicals separately.
Pack containers in sturdy upright boxes (don't place in garbage bags) and drive directly to site of drop off.
Never smoke near chemicals.
Never mix chemicals.

IMPORTANT
Proof of residency (such as a driver's license or tax bill) is required.
No commercial waste or unknown materials.
Early drop off is not permitted.

Bark in the Park

Get ready to unleash the fun at the annual Bark in the Park event, from 12 - 3PM at Fairfield School, where furry friends take center stage for a day of tail-wagging excitement! Whether you have a four-legged companion of your own or simply adore dogs, this event promises a paw-some time for all. 

Doggy Parade: See pups strut their stuff in adorable costumes, showcasing their unique personalities.
★ Agility Course: Watch agile pups tackle jumps, tunnels, and weave poles with finesse, demonstrating speed and teamwork.
★ Best Dressed Contest: Enter your stylish pup to win the title of Most Stylish Pup with trendy outfits and creative ensembles.
★ Pet Vendor Fair: Explore pet products and services from gourmet treats to grooming and training services. ★ Pet Adoption Zone: Meet lovable dogs in need of a forever home and consider adoption.
Doggie Demonstrations: Learn obedience techniques and agility training from skilled trainers.
Food and Refreshments: Enjoy delicious food and refreshments to keep up with the excitement.

Westbrook Kids Safety Day

Westbrook Public Safety, Saco & Biddeford Savings and Hannaford are hosting a *free* kids safety event for the community!

Westbrook Public Safety, along with Saco & Biddeford Savings (SBSI) and the Westbrook Hannaford, will host a free Kids Safety Day on Saturday, September 21st from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Westbrook. 

Kids Safety Day will be held rain or shine in the parking lot between Hannaford and Saco & Biddeford Savings, at 2 Hannaford Drive in Westbrook. The schedule is as follows:

10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. View smokehouse, fire trucks, ambulances and police vehicles
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. CPR demonstrations
10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Visit a mock crime scene
10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. K-9 demonstrations
11:00 a.m. – Vehicle extrication demonstration

Free hotdogs, popcorn, water and soda will be available all day for attendees. 

Additionally, the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will sponsor a bicycle rodeo supported by Ernie’s Cycle Shop. The Michael T. Goulet Traumatic Brain Injury and Epilepsy Foundation will give away free multisport helmets to the first 200 attendees along with a fitting and safety check. Attendees can bring their old helmet in for a fitting, and have an opportunity to win one of two bicycles.

CPR demonstrations and a Seatbelt Simulator will be available on site. 

This free event is open to the public and is sponsored by Westbrook Public Safety, Saco & Biddeford Savings, Westbrook Hannaford, The Michael T. Goulet Traumatic Brain Injury and Epilepsy Foundation, Ernie’s Cycle Shop, My Place Teen Center, Westbrook Communities that Care, Westbrook Kiwanis, Westbrook Safe Mobility and Access Committee and Girl Scouts of Maine.

Free Drive-thru Shredding Event - Scarborough Branch

Community members and businesses are encouraged to bring up to two boxes of documents (cancelled checks, old bills and invoices, medical records, etc.) for safe and confidential shredding. Shredding will be provided by Shredding on Site® Mobile Shredding. Staff will assist with disposing shredding materials.  

Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for the Scarborough Food Pantry. 

Details are below:

          What: Free Drive-thru Shredding Event 

          When: Saturday, September 28th, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to noon, or until the truck is full.

          Where: Saco & Biddeford Savings, 41 Gorham Road, Scarborough, ME 04074

          Who: Open to the public. All community members are invited to attend.

          Highlights: Free, safe, and confidential shredding for up to two boxes of documents (per household).

Pumpkin Harvest Festival

The annual Pumpkin Harvest Festival is scheduled for October 19th from 11AM - 3PM, set against the charming backdrop of our historic downtown. This year, Saco Main Street is thrilled to revive beloved traditions while introducing fresh excitement to the event. Prepare for a return of the enchanting pumpkin patch, brimming with creatively decorated pumpkins, alongside the spirited pie-eating contest right on Main Street. Participants from various city departments, civic groups, area businesses, and school principals will vie for glory in this cherished competition.

The proceeds generated from the festival are a direct investment back into our community, nurturing its growth and vitality.

Holiday Festival & Parade of Lights

Join Saco Main Street for two festive events, December 6th & December 14th, that capture the spirit of the holiday season in Saco!

On December 6th, witness the magical lighting of our city tree as thousands of twinkling lights illuminate the hill near the Transportation Center.

Then, on December 14th, one of the most cherished annual traditions returns to Main Street! Enjoy a day filled with holiday cheer, including shopping, a live nativity scene, caroling, story time with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the enchanting Festival of Trees at the Museum.

End the day with The Parade of Lights, featuring floats, city vehicles, civic groups, golf carts, and tractors adorned with festive lights as they march down Main Street.
