As a mutual savings bank, we prioritize supporting the people and communities we serve, because we're proud to live and work here, too.

Founded in 1827, we’ve been in business longer than any other bank in Maine. We have branches in Saco, Biddeford, Old Orchard Beach, Portland, Scarborough, South Portland and Westbrook — the very places our employees call home.

Since 1827, we have been involved in various local clubs, non-profit organizations and community groups in an effort to help make our community a better place to live and work.

Along with our partners, Paquin & Carroll Insurance¹, we have contributed more than $5.3 million over the last 10 years to non-profits and community organizations throughout Maine, including food pantries, mental health organizations, schools, youth groups, sports teams, the arts, elder care and social service organizations.

Our employees spent 2,080 hours volunteering in our community in 2024. We encourage volunteering and offer many opportunities for our employees to get involved. We attract employees who are caring and compassionate, and it shows in both their volunteer work and their customer service.

We’re proud to be a cornerstone in our community, helping generations of Mainers buy homes, build businesses or save for retirement.

Mark Jones, CEO and President of Saco & Biddeford Savings, joined the company in 1985 after earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Maine. Mark is deeply committed to the Bank's mission and vision: serving others with compassion, striving for excellence and being a source of possibilities.

His leadership extends beyond the walls of SBSI. Mark actively contributes to his community through various volunteer roles, including serving as a board member and treasurer of Shutterbugs4Charity, Chairperson of Hospice of Southern Maine and Trustee and Treasurer of Saco United Baptist Church.

Mark is committed to adding value to those around him. He seeks to learn from others and generously shares his insights, focusing on the core principles of service, love and care for all within his sphere of influence.
