Travis Vacchiano Celebrates 10 Years at SBSI

Travis Vacchiano, Business Banking Office Assistant Manager, is celebrating his 10-year work anniversary at SBSI!

Over the past decade, Travis has advanced through various roles and branches. From his start as a Teller in Scarborough to his current position in Portland, his journey has been marked by continuous learning, hard work and a passion for helping others.

In the following interview, Travis reflects on his path at SBSI, what initially brought him to the bank, the reasons he enjoys being a part of the team and what he enjoys doing outside of work.

What brought you to SBSI?

I was feeling stuck in a retail management role with limited opportunities for growth. I wanted more than just a job—I was looking for a career where I could progress over time. My mother-in-law, who’s spent her entire life in banking, suggested I apply for a Teller position at Saco & Biddeford Savings.

How have you moved or advanced between departments/branches?

I started as a Teller at the Scarborough branch. After a short time, my manager, Mel, encouraged me to apply for the seasonal CRA position at the OOB branch, working with J1 workers to open accounts. Once the summer ended, I returned to Scarborough as a CRA and was motivated to apply for the business banking role in 2017. Since then, I’ve been in Portland, starting as a Customer Relationship Officer and eventually being promoted to Assistant Branch Manager a few years later.

Why do you enjoy working at SBSI?

I really enjoy working at SBSI for several reasons, but especially the sense of community and the work-life balance it offers. It’s a place where I feel supported both professionally and personally.

How do you enjoy spending your free time?

Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors with my dogs and exploring new dining spots in downtown Portland.
