Katrina Desjardins, Market Manager of our Westbrook branch, is celebrating her 20-year work anniversary this month!
While attending Southern Maine Community College’s Business Administration program, Katrina developed an interest in careers within the finance industry. She became curious about banking—how it plays such a crucial role in people’s lives, yet is often a topic not deeply explored in school.
“I applied to Saco & Biddeford Savings because I had always loved my experience here- my parents opened an account for me here when I was two so it held a special place in my heart.
I started out on the teller line in Saco in 2005 and through the years, I’ve worked at every branch location in some capacity—whether full-time or filling in for a coworker. When our Operations Center opened in 2007, I started working as a Customer Service Representative. In 2012, I worked as a Remote Services Specialist and assisted customers with their digital banking needs.
I gained many valuable skills in these back-office roles, but eventually realized that my true passion was working directly with customers in the branches.
In 2016, I transitioned into the role of Customer Service Officer at our South Portland branch. In 2018, I was promoted to assistant branch manager of our Old Orchard Beach branch, and in March of 2020 I was promoted to the role I am currently in as the market Manager of our Westbrook branch.
I’ve always been really proud to work at SBSI because of the role they play in the community. We donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to the local schools, programs and charities. We’re big enough to provide valuable services to customers, yet small enough to make local decisions and deliver real, meaningful solutions to our area communities. SBSI has always done what is right by the customers and employees, and I trust them to continue to do so.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time skiing, playing soccer, going to the gym and travelling. And when I’m not outside, I love cooking and baking.”
